Violin Faculty: Ruth French
Ruth French attended the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati where she studied with Valentin Blumberg and Henry Meyer. As a student at the Meadowmount School in upstate New York, she was a pupil of Ivan Galamian.
For four summers she played in the Aspen Festival Orchestra in Colorado where she studied with Syzmon Goldberg, Eudice Shapiro and Isidore Cohen. She did Chamber Music study under the Julliard Quartet.
For twenty years she was a member of the Louisville Orchestra.
Her students have attended such schools as Juilliard, Curtis, Cincinnati College- Conservatory, Oberlin and Eastman. Former students became members of Orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony, Louisville Orchestra and the Atlanta Symphony. In her career she has taught over 1,100 students.
In 1999 she received the Tower Award for Women Leaders from Presentation Academy.
She serves as Vice President of the Louisville Academy of Music.
