Piano Faculty: Gyuli Kambarova
Gyuli Kambarova is a graduate of the prestigious Rostov State Rachmaninoff Conservatory in Russia. There she earned Masters of Music degrees with honors in both Piano Performance and Music Composition. Gyuli started her career in southern Russia where she toured and performed her own music.
Her compositions began to spread around the country and were performed in concerts and recitals by well-known musicians. Gyuli writes music for different instruments and settings using diverse styles. As a young composer she was awarded a grant named for Rasul Gamzatov and a special stipend from the Union of Dagestan Composers. In 2012 she became a member of the Union of Russian Composers.
As a pianist, Gyuli has played numerous solo recitals and taught students of all ages in both Russia and the United States. She now resides in Louisville with her husband, Sumir, and their young son.
